6 Principles of Training

As a fitness enthusiast you might have heard about the principles of training. If not, it is important to get familiar with them if you aim to get some real results and improve your fitness šŸƒand health long term.


šŸ”µ The first two are Specificity and Progression: if you have a specific fitness goal, you need a specific plan šŸ“. And a big part of this plan is to include exercise progressions that will challenge you more week by week as you get stronger šŸ‹. If you systematically follow the plan, you train regularly, you provide a healthy lifestyle and dietšŸ„—šŸ„‘, you will naturally and gradually progress.


šŸ”µ Adaptation: As you train on a regular basis and repeat the same exercises from your fitness programme ā€“ after a couple of weeks your body will start to adapt to the exercises, to the intensity, to the resistance, etc. If you start feeling that your workout is not that hard for you anymore and does not challenge you physically enough, it means that you got stronger, your body adapted to these challenges. This is a time to level up and add some progressions to your programme šŸ’¦.


šŸ”µ Reversibility: you train āž” you progressšŸ‘, you stop training āž” you stop progressing and you start regressingšŸ‘Ž. To keep your good fitness level, healthy body, healthy mind šŸ˜ƒā€“ you need to keep putting the work. Many people stop training regularly once they achieve their initial fitness goal and their WHY they started fitness journey in the first place. So they quit thinking they do not have to do any more work. They expect they will stay in the shape forever. Unfortunately this is not the case āŒ. You need to learn to effectively maintain your current fitness level, shape, healthy habits. This stage might be even more difficult for some people than the process of getting there in the first place. However, this is the key to sustainable long-term results and healthy life.āœ…
